Brendan Rodgers has sang the praises of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, ahead of Leicester City’s game with Aston Villa.
The 25-year-old has made a brilliant start to 2020/21, scoring four goals and making three assists in four appearances across all competitions.
The star has flown out of the traps following the new deal he signed, and Villa fans have been delighted by their captain’s contributions.
Such has been his fantastic start, fans were clamouring for Grealish to have more involvement for England over the international break – but Gareth Southgate only afforded him 76 minutes against Wales.
Speaking about the playmaker, Rodgers lavished praise on Grealish.
He said (Sky Sports): “But I think England are very fortunate to have Jack’s talent. I’ve seen the improvements in him as he’s grown as a young player.
“He’s a marvellous player and one of a number of players with England that are very talented. He’s a bit like James (Maddison, the Leicester midfielder), although they are not the same position.
“When he carries the ball, his awareness of his space really shows me the talent he is.
TBR’s View – Grealish fully deserving of praise
Grealish has been superb for Villa this season, and has the potential to carry the club to a mid-table finish – perhaps even higher – if he can sustain this kind of level.
Dean Smith has made some fantastic signings, but the presence of a fit, happy and confident Grealish in the team is massive – especially when he might have been turning out for another team.
With regards to the comparison with Maddison, it can be argued that right now, Grealish is ahead of the £20 million technician (BBC Sport).
