A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to hail their side’s superb performance today, with Black Cats gem Jack Diamond coming in for particular praise.
The 20-year-old, who has come through the ranks at the Academy of Light, was making his second start of the week after playing the full 90 minutes against Oldham in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy win.
Diamond impressed as Sunderland ran out 4-0 winners at Lincoln, winning an early penalty which Grant Leadbitter converted in the 16th minute for the first goal of the game.

The youngster, who was seldom utilised by former manager Phil Parkinson, also scored his side’s third goal, a brilliant individual effort.
Lincoln simply had no answer for Diamond’s speed and skill, though Lee Johnson opted to play it safe and take him off at the break to avoid the risk of a second booking.
His withdrawal didn’t matter much as Sunderland cruised to victory as Charlie Wyke, who made it 2-0 in the 25th minute, made it a brace with a 72nd-minute effort.
In what turned out to be a superb afternoon for the Wearside outfit, there was plenty of praise for everyone on the pitch and in the dugout.
Here is what some fans said about Diamond’s display on the day:
