'Break the bank': Some Arsenal fans say there's another Chelsea player they want with Abraham

Arsenal fans have suggested that they should make a move for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson Odoi now.

Up for grabs?

The Telegraph report that Chelsea have placed the young winger up for sale, with Tammy Abraham also potentially departing.

Arsenal are interested in Abraham currently, as the report specifies, but there are plenty of Gunners supporters who think that a double deal could appeal.

In all honestly the logic behind pushing for Hudson-Odoi actually does stand up for Arsenal.

Although the wing position is not one that they urgently need to upgrade – with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang already at the club – the chance to land Hudson-Odoi could appeal.

The England international’s career has stalled in recent times, but he remains a hugely talented youngster.

At the age of 20, he still has plenty of time on his side, and Mikel Arteta is a very talented coach.

With Hudson-Odoi blessed with pace, skill and creativity he could really add to Arsenal’s side going forward.

Chelsea, unfortunately, are unlikely to let him go cheaply, but the value of a transfer could still be there for the Gunners.

Hudson-Odoi is young enough to spend the next decade playing elite level football, and he could prove a bargain if he does fulfil his potential.

Solid fit

He certainly would bring a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack and he would also fit in with Arteta’s project.

The Gunners seem to be targeting young players who Arteta can mould into his system, and Hudson-Odoi fits that description.

At Chelsea he has to compete with the likes of Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner for first-team places, but the route to Arsenal’s starting line-up may not be quite as problematic.

The question is whether Arsenal could afford a deal for both Abraham and Hudson-Odoi this summer though.

Arsenal are heavily reliant on outgoing sales to make transfers happen, and so far they have not been able to clear the decks as hoped.

Granit Xhaka has stuck around and it seems like Hector Bellerin could do the same, in two moves which will reduce Arsenal’s ability to raise money.

That could, in turn, limit the amount of additions they are able to make – but if they could push to sign both Abraham and Hudson-Odoi then the potential deal does look to be one which they should consider.
