Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison started for Brazil in their win over Switzerland at the World Cup in Qatar yesterday.
Tite’s side were made to work hard by the Swiss. It looked like the game was destined to end as a goalless draw, but Casemiro bailed the Brazilians out in the 83rd minute.
Richarlison was already replaced by that point.

Brazilian national media react after Richarlison’s performance against Switzerland yesterday
Richarlison was arguably the most confident Brazilian player going into the game yesterday.
The Spurs attacker scored a brace in Brazil’s opening game against Serbia to help his side get off the mark. He even scored a sensational goal – one that may end up being the best in the competition.
Brazil fans were hoping that Richarlison would continue his form, especially with Neymar out injured, but the Tottenham star didn’t find it as easy as in the first game.
He worked extremely hard as usual, but he was slow to get on the ball on a couple of occasions, and that forced Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte to give him a 5/10 rating.
They wrote about Richarlison: “The usual effort for the ball, but at times he lost control and the chance to build an attack or finish.
“Like a ball in the first stage, which he received and left with it without completing the move. He did not reach the ball in two attacks, one with Paquetá and another with Vini Jr.”

A look at Richarlison’s stats
Tottenham star Richarlison had just 17 touches of the ball against Switzerland yesterday.
He completed just three of his five attempted passes and ended up losing the ball on eight occasions. He even failed with his only attempt to dribble past a player, while both of his shots were blocked well before the ball got anywhere near the goal. (SofaScore)
His replacement, Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus, was only on the pitch for 17 minutes, but he registered 14 touches of the ball – just three less than what Richarlison had managed in well over an hour.
That could sway Tite’s mind when Brazil take on Cameroon on Friday, and the Arsenal man could well be given an opportunity over Richarlison as the Selecao look ahead to the knockout stages of the competition.
