Brandon O'Neill can force fellow Australian Mile Jedinak out of Aston Villa

Aston Villa are eyeing two Australian players, according to reports from down under.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Brandon O’Neill is on Aston Villa’s radar, as well as Josh Risdon.

O’Neill plays as a defensive midfielder and holds an Irish passport, making him eligible to move to England without needing a work permit.

The 24-year-old has been standing out in the A-League and is ready to test himself in Europe.

But could O’Neill be on the verge of dumping fellow countryman Mile Jedinak out of Aston Villa.

Jedinak has retired from international duty and despite not yet making his debut, O’Neill has been tipped to become his successor.

Ironically, the Australia under-23 international could also push Jedinak out of the first-team picture at Aston Villa.

Since Dean Smith has taken over, Jedinak has not yet played a game, mainly owing to numerous injury concerns.

But the 34-year-old does not have time on his side anymore and O’Neill is his natural successor.

If O’Neill can make a success at Aston Villa, after leaving Sydney FC, then Jedinak’s time in the West Midlands could be up.
