Tottenham are not short of talented goalkeepers with Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Paulo Gazzaniga all among the ranks, but Mauricio Pochettino could soon find it hard to ignore the form of Brandon Austin.
The 19-year-old has taken the captain’s armband for Tottenham’s under 23 squad and has more than justified the decision, making a fine penalty stop against Chelsea on Friday.
Spurs’ London rivals did snatch a late equaliser in injury time which left Austin helpless, but it was just the latest game in which Austin has looked a step above his team-mates.

Capped at youth levels by both England and the USA due to his dual nationality, Austin has clear potential and could step up in the Tottenham pecking order in the near future.
If Gazzaniga is not ready to take up a role on the bench then Austin may look to become a candidate, but even if he does so, Pochettino may consider loaning Austin out in order to get regular game time.
Having impressed coaches throughout his rise through the youth system, Austin now only has one more key figure to convince in Mauricio Pochettino before he can get his first team chance.
