Bradford City scout highlights Kalvin Phillips disappointment

Leeds United are back in the Premier League and one of the key reasons has been Kalvin Phillips. Marcelo Bielsa has turned the Thorp Arch graduate into the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ and the Leeds midfielder is now on the cusp of the England national team.

But it appears he could have ended up at another Yorkshire club.

Bradford City were once trying to bring the midfielder to the club ahead of a potential future career at Valley Parade.

“I watched Kalvin play for Wortley boys as an under-15 against Halton Moor – Oli McBurnie was in their team,” Bradford scout Clive Michallat told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus. “But I missed out on Phillips by a week. I spoke to his manager and mum afterwards but they said, ‘sorry Clive, he’s already going to Leeds’.”

Bradford are not the only club from Yorkshire to have missed out on the now Leeds United star.

Last May, in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Leeds midfielder stated that he had a trial at Huddersfield Town but he was too much of a Leeds fan and did not want to join the Terriers.

Leeds United fans are undoubtedly over the moon that the Yorkshire Pirlo ended up sticking it out at Leeds. No doubt the player himself will be pleased with how things have turned out at Elland Road.
