Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata could be fit and available for tomorrow night’s clash against Hibernian, according to a report by the Herald.
They report that the Belgian central defender is back in training now and could be in contention to return to the fold for the visit of managerless Hibs at Parkhead.
Bhoys assistant manager Chris Davies said of the defender: “Boyata trained today. We’ll see how he reacts, then see what his availability is for Wednesday night. He’s been injured for a couple of weeks we’ll have to see.”
But that return would be a welcome boost for Brendan Rodgers after Kristoffer Ajer’s late dismissal in the 2-0 away victory over St Johnstone on Sunday.

Davies added that another defender – Filip Benković – will be out for a period of months rather than weeks – further adding to the defensive instability that has plagued Celtic all season.
There are injuries elsewhere too – with James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard also carrying knocks, according to Davies – so Rodgers could really use the good news of Boyata being back in the fold.
But of course it remains important that the former Manchester City man isn’t rushed back in desperation and sidelined for even longer, with the return of European football among the challenges looming on the horizon once more.
