TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Bournemouth are closing in on the signing of a young full-back who has been likened to Liverpool star Andrew Robertson.

The Cherries have one of the Premier League’s most highly sought-after defenders in Milos Kerkez, who counts Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City among his admirers.

TBR Football can also reveal Bournemouth’s stance towards Kerkez in wake of this potential new arrival at the Vitality Stadium in the same position.

Bournemouth closing in on Lanus gem Julio Soler

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Bournemouth are hoping to conclude their deal for Argentine left-back Julio Soler in the next week.

The Lanus full-back – the Argentina Under-20 captain – has already told team-mates he is heading for Europe and Bournemouth are leading the race for his signature.

TBR Football confirmed that Bournemouth had opened talks last month, but as yet they have not been able to finalise terms for the teenager.

Soler, 19, is understood to have agreed to make the move to the Vitality Stadium, but a deal is not yet finalised.

Milos Kerkez and Bournemouth transfer stance amid Liverpool and Manchester United interest

Bournemouth insist that their move for Soler is not directly connected to Kerkez and his future, although it is clear that his arrival would smooth over any possible exit for the Hungarian.

Kerkez has interest from across Europe and England, with Liverpool and Manchester United showing strong interest but is believed to be happy to wait until the summer.

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have also scouted Kerkez, who is said to be valued at around £40million by the south coast club.

Comparison between Soler and Robertson

Goal.com likened Soler to Robertson in November when the Argentina youth captain was being talked about as a target for Man United and Liverpool.

‘If Soler does end up joining United, he would be groomed as a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw, who has suffered from countless injury setbacks over the last two years,’ they wrote.

‘Shaw is also well known for his attacking prowess, but Soler is not quite the same profile as the England international.

‘It would make more sense for him to serve as Andy Robertson’s successor at Liverpool.

‘Robertson is one of the most athletically gifted players of his generation; a penetrating runner who presses relentlessly from the first minute to the last.

‘Soler boasts the same burst of speed and engine, while there are also similarities to be drawn between their dribbling styles.

‘Robertson falls into the world-class bracket, or at least he did at his peak, and that’s what Soler should be aiming for.’
