Bournemouth are open to selling Tyrone Mings for the right price this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
They report that Eddie Howe is very much open to offers for the powerhouse defender, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, where he helped them earn promotion back to the Premier League.
And the report also says that Dean Smith will look to bring the Englishman to Villa Park this summer – and that Mings himself prefers a return to Villa.
Perhaps Villa might have worried that Mings’ impressive form on loan with them would have convinced Howe to take another look at the defender – but that does not appear to be the case.
Smith knew he needed to tighten up his defence in January and Mings has been something of a Championship Virgil van Dijk with the way he has helped to transform a leaky backline with his leadership and physicality.
It remains to be seen what price Bournemouth demand but the fact that they are apparently open to offers should hearten Villa that a deal can be done.
And even if a bidding war erupts – and it might well do given how good Mings has been – the player’s preference for a return to Villa Park should give Villa the upper hand.
