Reported Newcastle United target Boulaye Dia has been praised by Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane for his brilliant start to the 2020/21 season.
Dia has been raising eyebrows over in Ligue 1, having scored eight goals in nine matches so far for Reims in the competition.
He is now the second-highest goalscorer having been leading Kylian Mbappe before the latest round of fixtures.
But the Paris Saint-Germain superstar hit a brace against AS Monaco to top the scoring charts.
Dia has been earning plaudits left, right and centre for his contributions, but he’s now got the seal of approval from his Senegal teammate Mane.
He told Foot-sur7: “I did not know him before, but since the start of the season I started to follow him, and I am really impressed by his qualities. I think he won’t last long there, he won’t last in Reims, believe me!”
Dia’s form has supposedly alerted Newcastle, according to The Chronicle.
TBR’s View – Mane endorsement surely emphasises Dia’s talents
To get such comments from a player of Mane’s calibre has to count for something.
Dia’s goals tally is obviously very impressive, but Mane is someone who has got to know Dia at international level and has trained with him, so would know what he can bring.
If Newcastle were on the fence about Dia, perhaps the Reds star’s comments will push Newcastle into making an offer.
