Arsenal won a pre-season game on Wednesday against Watford – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter named their star Thomas Partey as a real bright spark from the result.

The Gunners wrapped up a convincing 4-1 victory against Watford, who are back in the Premier League this season after promotion last year.

Eddie Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette, Kieran Tierney and Miguel Azeez were all on the scoresheet for the north London outfit. It was behind-closed-doors fixture that the club streamed online.

Mikel Arteta’s side are continuing to build nicely to their opening league match against Brentford, so they wrap up pre-season with tasty matches against Chelsea and Tottenham.

Thomas Partey can give Arsenal so much more

Arsenal were so excited when Partey joined last year from Atletico Madrid. However, the Ghana international was inconsistent during his debut season in England

The 28-year-old certainly hasn’t become a bad player overnight and he’s putting down a marker in pre-season.

He’s a powerhouse defensive midfielder with the tools to be a success in England, so it’s just a case of him staying more switched on and being a little more deceive on the ball.

Partey has the potential to be key for Arsenal in the 2021/22 season and his pre-season Watford performance had an entire host of Gunners fans discussing him. He caught the eye during a second-half performance in the centre of the park.
