Elias Sorensen helped Newcastle United’s U23 team win their Premier League cup semi-final against Leeds United last night.

Newcastle cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory to progress to the final with Sorensen bagging yet another goal.

It was the Denmark youth international’s 20th strike of the campaign and Newcastle fans rate him very highly.

Sorensen was on fire prior to January and Rafa Benitez decided that a loan spell would be the best move for his career.

But Sorensen only managed one substitute cameo of just over half an hour for Blackpool. Last month, Newcastle cut his loan spell short after he was snubbed for the matchday squads.

Fresh back from Blackpool, the 19-year-old is back in the goals. He capped off a fine evening for the U23 team by scoring the third goal to seal the win.

Many Magpies fans believe Sorensen could be the next academy starlet to break into the first-team.

Sean Longstaff has provided the blueprint for Newcastle’s youngsters to follow and Sorensen has the potential to be the next first-team breakthrough star.

Here are some tweets from Newcastle fans discussing the teenager’s performance and first-team hopes.
