Paul Merson believes Tottenham Hotspur have made an “unbelievable signing” in Yves Bissouma.

On Friday, the pundit reviewed the Premier League top six clubs’ summer transfer business so far.

Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, believes Spurs have had a “very good transfer window” to date.

He had especially high praise for Bissouma and Ivan Perisic.

“Yves Bissouma is an unbelievable signing for them,” wrote Merson.

“I’ve seen him boss the midfield for Brighton, and they aren’t nearly as consistent as Spurs.”

Merson admitted he wasn’t “too sure” about Richarlison.

However, he acknowledged the Brazil international “ticks a box” in terms of strength in depth for Tottenham.

Merson also claimed Djed Spence – who is still a Middlesbrough player at present – is “a good signing”.

However, he suggested the former Nottingham Forest loanee would have a big jump to make in the Premier League.

“I think Tottenham have done a great job so far, and I’m afraid they’re in for a good season,” concluded Merson.

Bissouma joined Tottenham in mid-June, Spurs reportedly paying Brighton an initial £25m.

This will potentially rise to £35m with performance-related add-ons.

Bissouma joined Spurs having impressed for the Seagulls in a four-year stint which began in 2018.

The Mali international made 124 appearances for Graham Potter’s outfit.

He left for Spurs with just one year remaining on his Brighton contract.
