German club Borussia Dortmund are now said to be considering a manager linked with replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool next summer.

Whilst there’s a lot to sort at Liverpool ahead of next season, Klopp’s replacement must surely be taking priority right now.

And if the club didn’t already have enough competition from Germany, with Bayern Munich also said to be interested in Xabi Alonso, it seems another candidate for the Anfield hot seat could be eyed elsewhere.

It would be interesting to know just how many different managers Liverpool are considering right now.

But judging by all the reports since Klopp’s announcement, there’s perhaps four leading candidates.

It seems as if Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim are best placed for the job, but both Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi have often been mentioned too.

And with the managerial situation uncertain at Dortmund, it seems Klopp’s old club could rival Liverpool for one of the names above.

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Dortmund are now considering Nagelsmann as their next boss.

Sharing his update on X, Aouna suggested that Dortmund could part ways with currrent manager Edin Terzic before next season, and were considering the German national team coach.

Aouna stated: “Borussia Dortmund are considering a change of a new manager next summer.

“One of the most prominent candidates who has been discussed internally is Julian Nagelsmann.

“Nothing concrete at this stage but BVB appreciates him.”

And even if ‘phenomenal‘ Nagelsmann is fairly low down on Liverpool’s list to replace Klopp, they probably won’t welcome interest from Dortmund.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see what kind of timeline Liverpool do execute when replacing Klopp.

Given there is so much to sort, an early appointment would seem advised, but similarly may not be possible with some of the candidates mentioned.

All that being said, it seems as if Liverpool are now very keen to hand a youngster a new contract
