Everton have received a quick boost from the FA as they ruled favourably on Lucas Digne’s red card incident against Southampton.
Everton picked up their second red card in two games at the weekend. Lucas Digne was shown a straight red for a foul on Kyle Walker-Peters, potentially ruling him out for three games.
He’d join Richarlison in that regard as the Brazilian received marching orders of his own against Liverpool.

Everton, though, felt that Digne’s red card was ‘excessive punishment’ and argued to the FA that they should reduce the ban. They felt one game was enough, rather than the three ‘violent conduct’ usually leads to, per the Liverpool Echo.
And Tuesday saw the FA agree with Everton. Digne will now only miss one game – away to Newcastle United this weekend.
Everton will surely be thrilled with that as the Frenchman was set to miss the home fixture against Manchester United. The Toffees will see that as one of their biggest games of the season as they look to earn European football.
Their star left-back will now be available.

Great news for Everton, who will still be without Richarlison for that Manchester United meeting. Digne is such an important player in the side and in truth, three games for that challenge was always excessive.
It was a foul, certainly, but far from the likes of Richarlison’s challenge a week earlier. There was never any serious danger to the player.
Good for the FA, then, who have quickly dealt with this one in a way that few could argue with.
