Bobby Zamora says he played with a midfielder at Tottenham who could’ve been one of the best ever

Tottenham have had their fair share of players over the years who never quite reached their potential.

Alex Pritchard was tipped for big things, but he never quite made it at Spurs, while Adel Taarabt was incredibly talented, but he was never a star for Tottenham either.

The best spell of Taarabt’s career was at QPR, and speaking to Stadium Astro, Bobby Zamora has been discussing Taarabt and a few other players he’s seen who just have that natural god-given talent.

According to Zamora, there are a few players throughout his career who he’s seen with that sort of ability, one of which was former Tottenham midfielder, Stephane Dalmat.

Stephane Dalmat could’ve been one of the best players ever

According to Zamora, Dalmat could’ve been one of the best players of all-time if he’d managed to make good on his potential.

Zamora also namechecked Ravel Morrison in this conversation.

Paul Pogba says Morrison was a supremely talented player too, and according to Zamore, Dalmat, Morrison and Taarabt could’ve been incredible players.

“Taarabt, yeah, he was incredible, he was one of the most naturally gifted footballers I’ve seen in my life, up there with Ravel Morrison. Those two and Stephane Dalmat as well at Spurs, those three were mavericks. Could have been up there with the best ever. But there’s just something that didn’t click for them. It’s disappointing,” Zamora said.

What happened to Stephane Dalmat?

As Zamora says, Stephane Dalmat was an immensely talented player, but, ultimately, he didn’t quite make good on that potential.

Dalmat played for some huge clubs in his career – Tottenham, Inter Milan and PSG, but he could never quite make things work in the right way.

After leaving Tottenham, Dalmat would bounce from club to club, progressively joining smaller and smaller teams before retiring in 2013.

Dalmat was never capped by his country, and while he did win two French League Cups in his career, he wasn’t a huge success.

As Zamora says, the midfielder could’ve been something special, but, for some reason, he couldn’t quite put it all together.
