Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly been dealt a transfer blow, with AS Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo declaring his happiness at the Stadio Olimpico.
Zaniolo burst onto the scene in 2018/19 and has made 35 appearances so far.

The attacking midfielder has scored six goals and made two assists, and has really caught the eye of some big teams from across Europe.
One such team who have been taking a look at Zaniolo are Spurs, with the Daily Mail reporting in late April that they were eyeing £35 million move for him.
Spurs apparently had scouts in attendance for Sunday’s match between Roma and Juventus (Calciomercato), with Zaniolo very much the focus.

But it appears a deal could now be very unlikely, with Zaniolo being quoted by Calciomercato as saying: “I still have another four years left of my contract, I see myself here in the future. Naturally receiving interest from other clubs is pleasing, but I am ready to sign the renewal because I am happy here. I would be happy to stay.”
TBR’s view
Zaniolo is a very talented player.
He is physically impressive and also has really good technically ability.
Essentially, he is kind of a mix of Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen, with the Belgian having left Spurs in January and the Dane possibly leaving this summer.

It’s a blow for Tottenham that Zaniolo would seemingly rather remain with Roma, although he is still very young and it might be a sensible decision.
Perhaps winning the Champions League on June 1 may prompt the Italian to change his mind.
