Rangers are monitoring Joe Rothwell in the hope of potentially bringing the midfielder to Ibrox on a free transfer, according to reports from over the weekend.
What’s the story?
According to The Sun, the Gers are admirers of the 26-year-old and are planning to step up their interest when the January window opens.
Rothwell is out of contract with Blackburn Rovers in the summer. And thus, Rangers are able to offer him a pre-contract deal in the new year.

Rothwell has contributed three assists for Blackburn this season. He is already one away from equalling his best tally in a single campaign for Tony Mowbray’s men.
And that perhaps explains why there is a mixed reaction on social media.
For some, Blackburn are in danger of losing one of their best players. Others however, have insisted that he is nowhere near consistent enough.
