Spurs legend Graham Roberts has compared Tottenham attacker Bryan Gil to Osvaldo Ardiles.

The 20-year-old joined Spurs from Sevilla in the summer, arriving to quite a bit of fanfare.

According to Sky in Italy, Tottenham paid £21.6million for Gil, who has penned a five-year contract at N17.

The Spaniard looks like an amazing talent, and on Wednesday, Nuno Espirito Santo gave him a start in the Carabao Cup trip to Wolves.

Gil played very well, forcing a good save from John Ruddy and also converting his penalty in the shootout.

He worked hard throughout, demanded the ball often, and always looked to make things happen.

And Roberts was delighted with Gil’s efforts and potential, praising the youngster on Twitter:

Spurs took the lead through Tanguy Ndombele on 14 minutes and doubled their advantage through Harry Kane in the 23rd minute.

However, Tottenham relinquished their lead as Leander Dendoncker scored on 38 minutes and Daniel Podence struck just before the hour mark.

The penalty shootout saw Spurs prevail as Pierluigi Gollini denied Dendoncker and Conor Coady then struck the bar.
