‘Bit of a quiet patch’: Tim Sherwood says £30m Arsenal player has really dropped off recently

Arsenal are still on course to challenge for the Premier League title this season, but it has to be said that they’ve dropped off a little bit from last season.

Indeed, while the Gunners’ results are holding up, the style of play isn’t as fluid or as exciting, and some of their players don’t seem to have hit top gear just yet.

The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus aren’t quite firing on all cylinders, and, frustratingly, the same has to be said for Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian can be the difference-maker in any game in the Premier League, but it’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen him play to the very best of his abilities.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has echoed a similar sentiment about Odegaard, claiming that he’s going through a bit of a quiet patch at the moment and that he’s not been at his best.

Odegaard having a quiet patch

Sherwood gave his verdict on the £30m midfielder.

“They made it really difficult for Arsenal, I’m not sure on the blend in that midfield with Jorginho in there, I’m really not, and Odegaard is having a bit of a quiet patch as well,” Sherwood said.

Odegaard has to step up

Arsenal are getting there in terms of results at the moment, but if this level of performance continues, it won’t be long before they start dropping off.

The likes of Odegaard have to step up and get back to their best if Arsenal are going to push on and win the league, while the Gunners also have work to do in the goal difference department as that could very well be the difference between glory and despair this season.

Luckily, no damage has been done just yet, but when your star players are out of form, it usually doesn’t take long for results to begin to slide.

Let’s hope that Odegaard can get back to his best and fire Arsenal to glory this season.
