‘Bit of a lunatic’…Neil Ruddock says Tottenham has a player who he would have loved to play alongside

Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock has been chatting about all things Tottenham and insisted he’d have loved to play both against and alongside Cristian Romero.

The Argentinian defender has become a key player for Ange Postecoglou and was very much missed before Christmas when he experienced a period out of the side.

Romero has had plenty of praise this season and alongside Micky van de Ven, seems to have formed one of the best defensive duos in the league.

However, former Spurs defender Ruddock has said that while he’d love to play alongside Romero, he’d also use it as a chance to teach him about the game.

Neil Ruddock has his say on Tottenham’s Cristian Romero

Speaking on the Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, Ruddock delivered his assessment on Romero and how he sees him in a Tottenham shirt.

“Bit of a lunatic. I’d love to play against him. But…I’d love to play alongside him because I would have taught him to disguise it. You don’t have to go flying in. Wait your time. Why go flying in when you’re winning the game? When you’re getting beat 4-0, fine, then go in and get sent off or whatever. Don’t get sent off when we’re winning, or we’re drawing and we can win the game,” Ruddock said.

Romero will need to keep maturing

Ruddock’s comments on Romero here probably resonate with a lot of supporters.

Yes, there is an element of him being a brilliant defender who is key to his team and he has been so impressive this season as well.

However, Ruddock is right in that Romero needs to add something to his game to make sure he is on the pitch most of the time. Seeing red is no good for anyone and certainly not for his manager or teammates.

Romero has been crucial for Spurs this season and needs to keep himself available to remain crucial.
