Bissouma shares what he did with his Tottenham shirt after CL debut vs Marseille
Spurs were made to work hard by Ligue 1 side Marseille, who dominated the first half of the clash. However, a red card to Chancel Mbemba right after half-time turned the game on its head, and the North Londoners picked up a 2-0 win in the end.
Bissouma wore his Tottenham shirt to bed after CL debut this week
Spurs signed Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion for £25 million this summer (ESPN).
The Mali international has been one of the best players in his position in the Premier League over the last few years, and he was always destined for a big move. After a long wait, Spurs snapped him up.
Bissouma had never played in the Champions League before this week. He started on the bench on Wednesday and for large parts of the game, it looked like he wouldn’t come on.
Thankfully for him, Spurs boss Antonio Conte gave him the nod for the last five minutes, and thus, a childhood dream was fulfilled.
A happy Bissouma took to Instagram yesterday and revealed that he wore his Tottenham shirt from the Champions League game against Marseille to bed.
He posted a picture of his top and wrote on his Instagram Stories: “I sleep all the night with this shirt yesterday @championsleague. It’s magic.”
Bissouma really is a fantastic player, but Conte has been reluctant to use him from the start so far.
The 26-year-old has started just one of Spurs’ seven games in all competitions, and considering how well Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur are performing in the middle of the park, that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
As frustrating as that might be for Bissouma, it’s excellent for Tottenham to have such a talented option available to come off the bench.
He will definitely get his chance at some point in the coming weeks, and when he does, we won’t be surprised if he’s the best player on the pitch.
