Birkir Bjarnason says his former Aston Villa team-mate Jack Grealish is ‘probably’ too good for the level of the club right now and hopes they can keep him.
Speaking to Under a Gaslit Lamp, the 31-year-old signed by Steve Bruce made it clear what a fan of Grealish he is, stating he is a level above where Villa are right now.
He said: “He’s Aston Villa’s best player, he’s the captain, he’s an unbelievable talent with great qualities – and he’s still young. His ability is probably better than where Aston Villa currently are as a club, and I think he could play for a top, top team.
“I think he can reach the heights of football, and hopefully he will go very far – but I hope that Villa keeps a hold of him for as long as they can.”

TBR’s View – Grealish can drag team-mates up to his level
Grealish is too good for a relegation battle and would definitely be too good for the Championship if Villa were to go down this year.
Dean Smith needs to hope that Grealish can inspire his team-mates to improve and gradually be the bedrock around which better new arrivals will be built as Villa seek to establish themselves as a settled Premier League team once more.
