Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has provided some good news about Ibrox midfielder Ryan Jack.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since February, but on Friday, the Gers boss confirmed that his player was back with the team.

Gerrard provided a fitness update on several players, admitting Leon Balogun is “fifty-fifty” for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership trip to St Mirren.

The Rangers boss also confirmed that he was hoping to have Ryan Kent back “around the Aberdeen game” at the earlier.

“The rest have come through fine,” the Daily Record quotes Gerrard as saying.

“It’s also a big day for Ryan Jack because he’s back with the team for the first time today in seven months.

“That’s a big plus for us and hopefully he can push on now.

“We can get some 11 vs 11 work in his legs and he can be back with the team in the next couple of weeks hopefully.”

Jack joined Rangers in 2017 on a free transfer after leaving Aberdeen.

He has clocked up 130 appearances for the Ibrox outfit, registering 11 goals and 12 assists.

A return to action for Jack still seems some way off as he’ll need several weeks of training.

That said, it’s great news from Gerrard and it’ll almost feel like the Scotland international is a new signing.
