Portuguese journalist Felipe Dias has told Sky Sports that Bernardo Silva has rejected a move to Arsenal.
Arsenal apparently were keen to sign the £70 million midfielder (The 42), as they continue to assess their playmaking options.
But Silva will not be joining the Gunners any time soon, according to the latest update.
“The latest we’ve heard is that Bernardo has rejected a move to Arsenal,” he said.
“If that is the case I think rightly so, because I don’t think that would be a step forward in his career.
“Bernardo does want to leave, as it stands, but there’s a big question marks as to where he will go.
“It’s big news in Portugal this morning.”
The search for a playmaker
Silva’s position at City has fallen into uncertainty following the arrival of Jack Grealish at the Etihad Stadium.

But it seems that he is not prepared to join Arsenal, where he would be almost guaranteed to start.
Silva would have been a hugely exciting addition to Arsenal’s squad, given his level of Premier League experience and proven quality.
But it seems that Arsenal may have to look at a less ambitious target.
Arsenal still haven’t brought in a new number 10 this summer, despite trying for much of the transfer window so far.
The Gunners are still linked with James Maddison and Martin Odegaard, as they aim to land a new creative option.
