‘Big difference’: Alex Iwobi says two Everton signings have already made huge impact on Frank Lampard’s side
The Toffees were busy over the summer as they brought in eight new players to bolster Lampard’s squad.
Everton managed to bring in three players in the final week of the window in Neal Maupay, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner.
Now Iwobi has heaped praise on Gueye and Maupay for the impact they made against Liverpool.
Iwobi says two Everton signings have made huge impact
“The two [Maupay and Gueye] that you mentioned came on, big difference,” he said.
“No one ran the most which I’ve ever seen from a striker. The intensity he brought to the game [against Liverpool] was amazing.
“And then for Gana, everyone knows he’s a legend. I can’t wait for them to get going, it’s exciting times.”
Maupay was handed a start on his debut by Lampard against Liverpool 11 days ago. The former Brighton man put in an impressive display, despite missing a big opportunity to score.
Gueye returned to the Everton team for the first time since 2019 and came on as a substitute.
And Iwobi is clearly impressed by the impact both players have had at the club already.
Garner wasn’t named in the squad after his deadline day switch from Manchester United. But Iwobi says the Toffees squad have been impressed by his ‘quality’ in training.
Lampard’s men are yet to pick up their first win of the season but have put in encouraging displays in their last three games.
The Blues host West Ham United this Sunday and will be hoping to pick up their first win of the new season.
