'Beyond ridiculous': Some Arsenal fans react to William Saliba footage
Arsenal may have turned their season around and tightened their defence, but some Gunners fans are still baffled as to why William Saliba was sent out on loan.
The 20-year-old joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019 for £27million, his signing met with much fanfare.
Arsenal then loaned Saliba back to Saint-Etienne for the remainder of the season, and went on to reach the French Cup final.
He then arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer, and it was hoped that he’d stake a claim for a first-team place.
However, Mikel Arteta had other ideas, and Saliba has yet to make his Arsenal debut at senior level.
Indeed, the Frenchman went out on loan again at the start of 2021, and enjoyed a successful stint at Nice.
Now, Saliba is on loan at Marseille, where he has played the full 90 minutes in five Ligue 1 games en route to second in the table.
Indeed, the defender has made the latest Ligue 1 Team of the Week alongside Matteo Guendouzi.
On Tuesday, Marseille shared footage of Saliba in action alongside the caption: “Calm. Cool. Clutch. Composed. Our Olympien is doing it all lately.”
This didn’t go down well amongst some Arsenal fans:

Not good enough for @Arsenal but those Chambers and cedric performances are good enough. Harsh!— African Aviator (@chiggzTHE3rd) September 21, 2021

Imagine spending £50m on Ben White while having this guy on the books.
It’s beyond ridiculous. Smh
