A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to slate Mikel Arteta’s decision to take Thomas Partey off in last night’s Premier League game.

The Gunners fell to a 2-1 defeat to Wolves as they finished the game with nine men.

Arsenal took the lead on 32 minutes through Nicolas Pepe but ended the half level and with a man down.

David Luiz was controversially sent off for being adjudged to have brought Willian Jose down in the box, and Ruben Neves netted the resulting penalty to equalise.

Joao Moutinho then put Wolves ahead with a long-range piledriver in the 49th minute.

To add insult to injury, Arsenal went down to nine when Bernd Leno inexplicably handled outside his box with Adama Traore bearing down on him.

Partey had enjoyed a superb first half as he launched counters and broke up play time and time again.

Although he faded a little after the interval, he was still doing well, yet Arteta chose to replace him with Alex Runarsson after Leno was sent off.

Some fans felt Emile Smith Rowe should’ve been taken off in his place, as he looked tired and was having little joy when asked to play as a false nine.

Here is some of the reaction on social media:
