‘Better than Kessie’: Some Spurs fans welcome ‘bargain’ 26-year-old links

A number of Tottenham fans have welcomed the reports linking Spurs with Florian Grillitsch.

According to Sky Deutschland, Spurs have asked about the Hoffenheim ace.

On Sky Deutschland’s Transfer Show, transcribed by Sky Sport Austria, reporter Marc Behrenbeck claimed Grillitsch is “very, very likely” to leave next year.

The 26-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.

And there’s always the possibility that Hoffenheim could cash in on Grillitsch in January and earn a small transfer fee.

As well as Spurs, Jose Mourinho’s Roma are reportedly eyeing the Austria international.

According to Behrenbeck, Grillitsch would be an “absolute bargain” for any interested parties.

He also assumes that the versatile 6ft 1in powerhouse will join a “top team”.

Tottenham could certainly do with bolstering their ranks in defence and midfield.

Grillitsch ticks both boxes – he’s a defensive midfielder by trade but has been covering at centre-back this term.

Better still, his contract situation means Spurs wouldn’t break the bank if they went for him.
