Everton star, Abdoulaye Doucoure, has settled in nicely at Goodison Park since arriving this summer, helping the Toffees to the top of the Premier League table.
The Frenchman moved to Merseyside in a big-money move from Watford in the summer window and has made an immediate impression in the middle of the park alongside Allan and Andre Gomes.
But despite the wealth of talent now at Everton – including former Real Madrid man James Rodriguez – Doucoure has highlighted just how impressive Carlo Ancelotti has been since he arrived.
Speaking in the match programme (quotes from the Liverpool Echo) ahead of this weekends clash with Liverpool, the 27-year-old admits Ancelotti has been better than he imagined.
“He doesn’t speak too much. He just gives one or two words of advice and gives you confidence and I can feel I am improving straight away.
“I heard a lot of good things about him before I came but he is even better than I expected. I improved already with him and I want to keep going the same way.”
Ancelotti is hoping to be the first manager to lead the Toffees into the top four since the successful days under David Moyes in the early 2000s.
And with four wins from four and a chance at beating Liverpool – who conceded seven at Aston Villa – this weekend, things are certainly looking up for the Italian boss and Everton.
Glory days could be back, Doucoure will be key – TBR View
Among all the brilliant play that we see from Rodriguez, Richarlison, and Calvert-Lewin, the role of Doucoure should not be underestimated.
Full of energy, box to box, and capable of chipping in with goals as well as doing the dirty work, Doucoure will prove to be a fine capture for Everton this season.
And given he’s already loving life under Ancelotti, the Toffees will probably see the very best from their man.
