A number of Liverpool fans have been left impressed by a training-ground video featuring… Pep Lijnders?
That’s right – the Reds assistant manager may not be an active pro footballer – indeed, he never played professionally – but he’s certainly got skills.
On Wednesday, Liverpool shared a 15-second video from a staff match at their training ground, which featured an incredible assist from Lijnders.

In the clip, the 38-year-old makes a mockery of his opponents, weaving through the defence with ease.
He even takes the goalkeeper out of the equation and, from the byline, passes to a teammate for an easy strike into the empty net.
Some Liverpool fans joked that Lijnders would be superb cover for the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the Africa Cup of Nations:
Lijnders is certainly a man of many talents – as Klopp’s assistant, he has played a huge role in Liverpool’s recent glory years.
The Dutchman returned to Anfield in 2018, having previously spent three-and-a-half years with Liverpool.
Lijnders began as Under-16s coach at the academy before taking up the newly-created position of first-team development coach in 2015.
He left Liverpool to take the reins at NEC Nijmegen in January 2018, but after he parted company with the Dutch club, he returned to Anfield.
Since then, the Reds have won the biggest prizes in club football – the Premier League, the Champions League, the UEFA Supercup and the Club World Cup.
Last season was difficult for Liverpool amid injuries and loss of form, but this term they’re looking back to their best.
