Aston Villa suffered another Premier League defeat as Dean Smith’s side fell to a 3-0 loss to Chelsea.

The Blues were in flying form with Romelu Lukaku scoring his first-ever goals at Stamford Bridge as Villa struggled to make their chances count against Chelsea.

With Emi Martinez and Emi Buendia both missing due to quarantine, it was bound to be a rough game for the Birmingham side right from the get-go. And the reigning UEFA Champions League holders put Villa to the sword.

It was not all doom and gloom for Villa, though. John McGinn once again showed sparks that the Scottish international is on his way to returning to his usual best.

The 2018 arrival from the Scottish Premiership is not fully back to 100% fitness after a long summer with the Tartan Army. And against Chelsea, the Villa maestro was impressive in patches in the midfield.
