A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Marcelo Bielsa’s fitness update on Elland Road goalkeeper Kiko Casilla ahead of their midweek Championship fixture.
The Whites stopper, who has kept two clean sheets in a row, took a kick to the hand in the 1-0 victory over Reading at the weekend.
In his pre-match conference ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Middlesbrough, Leeds head coach Bielsa confirmed that Casilla has inflammation in his hand from the kick.
The Argentine confirmed that the keeper is a “maybe” for the Boro game, depending on the pain – a similar situation to Kalvin Phillips, although Bielsa is optimistic both can feature.
With Leeds having gone back to winning ways as well as keeping two consecutive clean sheets, Casilla’s absence could cause problems to the Whites setup.
However, some Elland Road fans reckon it could be a good chance for 19-year-old Illan Meslier – who has impressed for the club at reserve level – to make his league debut for Leeds.
Here is what some Leeds supporters were saying on social media:

Playing an out of form goalkeeper with a hand injury doesn’t make sense

Meslier was one of two players selected by Bielsa – along with outfielder Robbie Gotts – to make their Leeds debuts in the FA Cup third-round clash against Arsenal.
The Lorient loanee’s performance was impressive, his distribution and composure on point as he made several saves, and couldn’t be faulted for the Gunners’ winner.
