Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero has deemed Liverpool counterpart Virgil can Dijk one of the two best defenders in the Premier League.
The Spurs star believes the Reds centre-half and Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez are the league’s standout defenders.
Van Dijk has been so good for Liverpool over the years that he has made his £75million transfer fee seem like a bargain.

The Dutchman transformed the Liverpool defence when he joined in 2018.
Before he arrived at Anfield, the back line was fairly shaky, but he helped turn it into a watertight unit.
Liverpool have won the Champions League, the Premier League, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup thanks in part to Van Dijk’s efforts.
Admittedly, the 31-year-old has underperformed at times for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.
However, he looked back to his best as Liverpool beat Ajax in the Champions League in midweek.
And despite a few mediocre displays this term, Romero still thinks Van Dijk is of the highest quality.
The Tottenham star mentioned the Liverpool ace and the Manchester United summer signing in a Sky Sports interview.
“Today, the best defender for me is Virgil van Dijk, always, and Lisandro Martinez from Manchester United,” said Romero.
“For me, they are the best in the Premier League.”

Liverpool are next in action after the international break on October 1, when they host Brighton at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Tottenham host Leicester City on Saturday.
After the international break, Spurs play Arsenal away in the North London Derby on October 1.
