Besic looks finished at Everton but he could still do a job in the Premier League

Mo Besic has returned to Everton following the conclusion of his loan deal with Middlesbrough, according to Teesside Live.

Besic spent a season and a half with in the north east, and the Daily Mail reported last month that Boro were keen to buy him permanently – before they failed to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

The same report said that Besic had absolutely no future at Goodison Park under Marco Silva, leaving the Bosnian international to consider offers from Turkey.

Everton do have a host of holding midfielders, with Morgan Schneiderlin backing up Idrissa Gueye and James McCarthy hanging around as well.

So while it’s easy to see why Silva is happy to lose the destroyer who earns £30,000 a week (Spotrac), he still has something to offer in the top flight.

There are doubts over Gueye’s future again and McCarthy’s fitness must be a concern after such a long time out – but Besic is still a decent age – 26 – and has been playing regularly in the Championship.

He’s still got something to offer, able to both break up play and get his foot on the ball himself, so while he might be an understandable casualty with a bloated squad being trimmed, it would not be a surprise to see him excel elsewhere.
