Bernardo Silva admits one Man Utd player has been ‘incredible’ this season

This Premier League season is coming to a close, and it’s been a rather strange campaign for Manchester United.

The Red Devils were coming off the back of their worst ever Premier League finish, but after a strong summer transfer window, there were signs of life for United.

However, under Ruben Amorim, the uptick in form wasn’t enough, and after a fair bit of behind-the-scenes drama the Portuguese manager was sacked.

Michael Carrick came in, and, suddenly the team looked completely different.

United have been the best team in the league since the turn of the year, and there have been numerous standout performers.

Casemiro was heavily criticised under Amorim, but he has been a revelation under Carrick, and the same can be said of both Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesko.

However, the true standout performer in this United side has been Bruno Fernandes, and speaking to The Athletic, Bernardo Silva has reserved some special praise for his fellow countryman.

Bernardo Silva gives Bruno Fernandes his Player of the Year vote

During his interview with The Athletic, the Manchester City captain was asked which player in the Premier League got his vote for the PFA Player of the Year award.

There are a number of contenders for this award, such as Arsenal’s star trio Declan Rice, Gabriel and David Raya, among numerous other star performers this season.

However, in Silva’s eyes, Bruno Fernandes has been the Premier League’s best this year.

“My friend Bruno (received his vote.) He’s had an incredible season,” Silva said.

Bruno Fernandes’ season in numbers

Silva says Fernandes has been the Premier League’s best player this season, and it’s hard to argue.

The Portugal star spent half the campaign playing in an uncomfortable position under Ruben Amorim, and yet, he’s still potentially on course to break the Premier League assists record.

The numbers tell the story here.

19 assists (so far), is an incredible return for Fernandes, and even though United aren’t going to win the league, as an individual, it’s hard to argue that the midfielder hasn’t been the league’s star performer this season.
