Bentancur once said he dreamed of having £23m player's left foot, now Tottenham reportedly want to sign him
Rodrigo Bentancur played alongside Tottenham transfer target Paulo Dybala at Juventus, where the forward’s left foot impressed him.
Back in February 2019, Bentancur and Dybala appeared on a video together for UEFA’s YouTube channel and the midfielder was asked what he would take from the forward’s game.
Bentancur praises Dybala’s left foot
Bentancur said: “His shot. Because with the left foot he has on him, let’s just say I’d like to have it.”
Dybala praised Bentancur’s patience and calmness in the face of adversity and it was clear to see that the pair get on well together.
The pair could be reunited in north London with Dybala looking all set to move on this summer.
BBC Sport report Dybala cost Juve around £23 million when he signed from Palermo in 2015 but will move on a free transfer when the window opens.
Spurs have needed a backup for Harry Kane for years now, but would Dybala take on that role?
Antonio Conte will need depth if Spurs finish the job and get into the Champions League, and Dybala does have the quality to make an impact at that level.
It would help that Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski would be at Spurs to help Dybala settle in if he did make the move.
Both those January signings have made an instant impact at the club, and Conte would look for Dybala to do the same if he came in, but there have been links before and nothing happened, so we are a long way off.
