Benoit Badiashile has given his verdict on Alejandro Garnacho as a footballer, despite his slow start to life at Chelsea.

Garnacho joined Chelsea in the summer transfer window on a £40million move from Manchester United, but he has failed to get things going at Stamford Bridge so far.

The Argentinian has made four appearances for the Blues but hasn’t scored or provided an assist for his new club.

Garnacho played a key role in Chelsea’s win against Benfica, as his cross resulted in an own goal, which proved to be the match-winner.

However, Chelsea will still be hoping to see a little more from the winger moving forward after the quality he showed during his time at Manchester United.

Benoit Badiashile believes Alejandro Garnacho is a ‘top player’

Badiashile spoke to the press after Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Benfica, where Garnacho’s run of no goal contributions continued, and the defender made it clear that he believes in the winger.

“We all know Alejandro is a top player. He’ll help us a lot this season, and we’re also trying to help him get fit and improve.”

Badiashile also spoke about the late red card that Joao Pedro received, meaning he’s now suspended for their upcoming game against Ajax.

It continued Chelsea’s run of ill discipline this season, which is starting to become an issue. However, Badiashile backed his teammate and revealed how the squad will help him.

“No, I think he was disappointed, of course, to let the team down, but he knows that we are with him even in this tough moment, and we’ll try to help him to get better.”

Alejandro Garnacho reveals how he’s settling into Chelsea after leaving Man United

Garnacho’s career at Manchester United came to an abrupt end as Ruben Amorim cast him aside and had the winger train alone, similar to Raheem Sterling’s current Chelsea experience.

Despite that, when speaking to TNT Sports after the game on Tuesday night, Garnacho had nothing negative to say about his former club.

“It was a difficult moment there, just training alone. But I don’t have nothing bad to say about my old club, Manchester United.

“Just bad moments in life, but now I’m very happy to be here, to play in this competition, and for the three points today.”

Before his fallout with Amorim, Garnacho had been a key player for Manchester United, which is why there’s so much expectation on his Chelsea career.

The winger made 144 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists. He will now look ahead to Chelsea’s next game against Liverpool to try to open his account for the Blues.
