Sunderland boss Jack Ross has not been afraid to use some of the clubs young talents this season. Denver Hume, Bali Mumba and Josh Maja have all benefitted from this policy. As has Swedish winger Benjamin Kimpioka.
In the summer the teenager was tipped for big things this season after a brilliant campaign with the under-23s last term. Signed from IFK Sirius in April 2016 the Swedish attacker has swiftly become one of Sunderland’s top talents and in the summer Arsenal were keen on bringing him to North London.
Kimpioka has featured just once in League One this season, coming on in the final minute of a 2-2 draw with Peterborough United last month.

He has also featured in the EFL Trophy on two occasions, even scoring against Carlisle United.
Yesterday he again gave Sunderland’s first-team boss a reason to remember his name when it comes to teamsheets. Kimpioka is currently away on international duty with the Sweden under-19s.
They faced what should have been a routine win over San Marino. However, they ended up struggling to a 2-1 victory.
Kimpioka was on the scoresheet, netting the first goal in a 2-1 win that ends a six-game winless streak for the Swedish teenagers.
Next up is a clash with Wales where he will hope to impress further and push on into the Sunderland first-team.
Whilst he is far from being a starter at Sunderland, Ross will no doubt continue to keep him around the first-team if he can keep up this form.
