Ben White says Takehiro Tomiyasu has impressed everyone at Arsenal
Arsenal defender Ben White has been speaking about some of his Gunners teammates during an interview with Stadium Astro and has said that new signing, Takehiro Tomiyasu, has made a big impression.
Tomiyasu signed in the summer from Bologna. It was a swift and bold move from the Gunners, who essentially pinched him from under the noses of local rivals, Tottenham.
Since then, the Japanese defender has gone straight into the team at full-back and been an outstanding presence in the Gunners’ back-line. And when questioned about his impact at the club, fellow defender White said that Tomiyasu has left a mark on everyone.
“Obviously, you’ve all seen how he’s performed when he’s playing for Arsenal. He’s such a nice guy,” White said of Tomiyasu.
“He fitted straight in when he came. All the boys love him and he’s doing the business on the pitch as well. Doing really well.”
Tomiyasu has slotted in seamlessly under Mikel Arteta. His performances have earned rave reviews at times. Alongside White and Brazilian defender Gabriel, the Gunners now have a set back four, with Kieran Tierney down the left.
TBR’s View: Tomiyasu a class-act and a fine Arsenal signing
Looking at the transfer window and some of the other fees that got spent and mentioned, you’d have to say Tomiyasu is one of the bargains of the summer.
Less than £20m for a player of such quality seems a snip. His pace, aggression, and all around game has seen him adapt to life in the English game ease.
Hopefully for Arsenal fans, he continues to go from strength to strength and keeps on contributing as he has been of late.
