Ben White has lauded Arsenal duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes after yesterday’s draw at Anfield.

Gabriel Magalhaes got on the scoresheet on Saturday afternoon while William Saliba was handed the Player of the Match award.

The duo continue to impress in central defence and have formed a formidable partnership over the past year.

Saliba, in particular, has transformed Arsenal’s backline after breaking into the side last year following several loan spells in France.

The Frenchman’s rise led to Ben White moving out to right-back at the start of last season, where the former Brighton man has also excelled.

And White has labelled Saliba and Gabriel as an ‘unbelievable’ defensive partnership.

Speaking to The Evening Standard, White claimed that there aren’t many players who can deal with the duo’s physicality and pace.

“They are unbelievable together,” the Gunners defender said. “They are so strong and powerful. They make it easier for everyone around them.

“They just don’t do too much wrong, do they? They are so consistent every game.

“No one is dominating them speed wise or strength wise. It’s hard for strikers to come up against and find anything positive to come out of the game.”

Much of Arsenal’s success over the past year has been down to their improvements defensively.

Saliba and Gabriel seem to suit each other’s games perfectly, with the latter seen as the more aggressive, front-foot defender.

As for Saliba, he excels at defending the channels and is arguably one of the best centre-backs in the world based on his current form.

Arsenal have proven to be a difficult side to beat this term, having only lost two league games so far.

That is largely down to Saliba and Gabriel’s exceptional partnership, as well as Declan Rice’s growing influence in the middle of the park.
