Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are just two of the clubs reportedly interested in highly talented defender Ben White.

Sky Sports reported earlier in December that Spurs, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, have been keeping tabs on the Brighton ace.

And according to the Sunday Mirror (13 December, p. 73), Liverpool want to sign both White and his Seagulls teammate Yves Bissouma.

However, the Whites’ hopes of signing him were all but extinguished when the 23-year-old penned a new four-year contract in September.

White is now one of the first names on Graham Potter’s team sheet, with starts in each of Brighton’s 14 Premier League games so far plus the League Cup meeting with Manchester United.

Why clubs will be interested in Ben White

Despite his young age, White has shown he’s a cut above at both Leeds and Brighton, and has plenty of room to grow, making him a great long-term prospect for any top club.

He is excellent on and off the ball, so much so that he has been deployed in midfield, great in the air, is difficult to get past and of course is superb in the tackle.

Why might Ben White not move?

White is currently one of Brighton’s main assets and, having penned a new contract just a few months ago, he won’t come cheap.

The Seagulls are currently struggling in the table, sitting just two points outside the relegation zone.

From Brighton’s point of view, they may not want to part company with him at least until the end of the season when they know where they stand division-wise.

How much would Ben White cost?

Transfer expert Ian McGarry recently told the Transfer Window podcast that “Brighton value him at anything £50million plus.”
