Leeds United fans will love what Ben White has said about Elland Road
Arsenal defender Ben White is still adored in and around Leeds United following his hugely successful loan spell at Elland Road two years ago.
The Englishman was loaned out to Marcelo Bielsa’s side and he played a key part in helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League. Leeds were desperate to sign him on a permanent deal, but Brighton decided to keep hold of him.
That proved to be the right decision. A year later, the Seagulls managed to secure £50 million from Arsenal for White, making him their most expensive sale ever, by a considerable distance. (BBC)
White is settling in well at Arsenal and he impressed against the Seagulls a few days ago as well. However, if his latest comments are anything to go by, he still seems to have very fond memories of Leeds United and Elland Road.
Ben White: Elland Road is my favourite stadium
In a video titled favourites on Arsenal.com, White was asked about the favourite stadium he has ever played in. Most Gunners fans expected him to say the Emirates, but he picked Elland Road instead.
He said when asked about his favourite stadium: “I’d probably say a full Leeds stadium.
“Obviously I played there two years ago. That was probably my first experience of a full stadium and a lively crowd.”
Leeds fans will love White’s comments
Elland Road definitely provides one of the best atmospheres in the country. The stadium is rocking throughout the 90 minutes and the way Marcelo Bielsa makes his Leeds side play raises the noise levels even more.
White, who was brilliant for Leeds during his time there, is still a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful. They would’ve loved to have him back last year, but a deal just couldn’t materialise for them.
However, the fact that White, a player who has played at the Emirates, Wembley, Old Trafford, Anfield and most other big stadiums in England, chose Elland Road over any other ground will be received really well by the Leeds United supporters.
