Ben White delivers two-word verdict on Arsenal star's Monday display
Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe was once again the man of the moment last night. He scooped the Player of the Match award for his heroics as England under-21s defeated Andorra 1-0. Afterwards, he received praise from Bukayo Saka and Ben White on Instagram.
The young Arsenal talent scored the only goal of the game. In truth, it proved more difficult than it should have been for England’s youngsters. Rhian Brewster’s sending off didn’t help things and the win proved to be a good one.
Smith Rowe is growing as a footballer. He was magnificent in a recent North London derby win against Tottenham. During 2021/22 he has scored twice and claimed an assist with the future bright for the 21-year-old.
A full England cap looks likely for Smith Rowe. He is currently playing out of skin for Arsenal. Last night he showcased his class by sprinting the full length of the pitch to tuck home for the under-21s.
Smith Rowe served his time out on loan away from Arsenal. He spent time with RB Leipzig and with Huddersfield as the Gunners looked to get him ready for the first team.
He’s now made 53 appearances for the senior ranks, scoring nine goals and claiming eight assists. Mikel Arteta has given him the confidence to express himself and that bodes well.
What have White and Saka said about Arsenal star Smith Rowe?
Saka has chosen just a single word, to sum up last night’s heroics by his Arsenal teammate. He used a term that would imply that Smith Rowe simply did what he always does best.
White, however, used two. He was full of praise for the man who he now plays alongside on a weekly basis. The centre-back swapped Brighton for Arsenal in the summer, costing the Gunners £50 million.
His performance was exceptional. The challenge for Arsenal is to keep him in this form and have Gareth Southgate giving him a call for the November internationals.
