Ben Parker singled out Leeds United’s Raphinha for special praise after his performance last night.
The Whites secured a vital 2-1 away victory on Tuesday against Newcastle United, which was the perfect response to back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team earned three league points at St James’ Park with a narrow win against struggling Newcastle.
Raphinha, who earns £28,000-a-week, scored a superb opening goal with a left-footed finish.
He then turned provider by assisting Jack Harrison for Leeds’ second goal, which was in response to an equaliser from Miguel Almiron.
After dominating much of the first-half, the Yorkshire giants showed some defensive steel in the second period to secure a win and they travel to in-form Leicester City next.
Parker picked out 24-year-old winger Raphinha post-match for his contribution and highlighted his non-stop work-rate.
“I’ve seen a few people say it would be good to see him in the number 10 position, but I love him on that right,” Parker told LS11.
“His work-rate. He never stops running. You can see the movement off the ball, he never stops and I think that’s why Bielsa loves him so much, and he fits so well into our team.
“You think of the goal yesterday, when we win the ball high up the pitch… his desire to sprint to get towards the edge of the box, it’s so hard to get there. To have the first touch, the composure to then pass it into the corner just shows the quality he’s got.”
If Raphinha plays well, then quite often Leeds look a formidable team going forward and he injects such quality into the attack.
The Brazilian left-footer is extremely skilful and a nightmare for full-backs when he cuts inside from the right, picking up dangerous pockets in central areas.
He’s now up to three goals and three assists so far this season in the Premier League, which are numbers he should be eyeing to improve drastically given his individual talent.
