Ben Parker reacts to Robbie Gotts’ Leeds loan exit

Ben Parker has told LS11 that joining Salford City is a really good move for Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts as he tipped the 21-year-old for a great future at Elland Road.

Gotts has joined the League Two side after spending the first-half of the campaign with Lincoln City. Unfortunately, he struggled to hold down a place in the side.

He made just seven appearances in the third tier. And that prompted Leeds to recall him before sending him to Salford for the rest of the campaign.

Gotts made his debut for the club at the weekend as they drew 0-0 with Newport County. Encouragingly, he was included in the starting lineup. And Parker believes that it could be a very good move for the youngster.

“Yeah really good,” he told LS11 when asked what he made of the move. “I sent him a message and he’s buzzing to go there and play more regular games. He was a bit in and out at Lincoln.

“But what a guy Robbie Gotts is. Everyone at Leeds loves him, think really highly of him. He went straight into Salford’s team and that’s what he wanted. By all accounts, did well, looked sharp, looked bright. So hopefully he can keep working hard which I know he will do. He’s a young, young lad who’s got a great future ahead of him.”

It does appear that Marcelo Bielsa is a big fan of Gotts. He enjoyed a remarkable run of games on the bench before he got the chance to make his Leeds debut last January.

Of course, it was a huge statement to include him in the starting lineup against Arsenal. And he certainly did not look out of place in a Whites side that ran the Gunners ragged that night.

His loan spells will hopefully take his game to the next level. Unfortunately, his time at Lincoln did not quite work out as anyone would have hoped.

But the very early signs suggest that his move to Salford could prove a lot more beneficial.
