Ben Parker has claimed he’s not convinced Leeds United need to sign reported forward target Noni Madueke, who plays for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

Madueke, 19, is enjoying a brilliant season so far for PSV.

He’s scored nine goals and set up eight assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

The London-born teenager has also been part of the England Under-21s group during the current international break, and is a highly-rated talent that was previously on the youth books at Tottenham.

According to the Evening Standard, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich are all interested in potentially signing him ahead of the summer window.

Parker has reacted to the transfer speculation though by pointing out the right-winger would be adding to a position at Elland Road where the squad is already well stacked.

“He plays on the right of a three well he did for the England Under-21s. He’s left-footed. I go through our squad, and we’ve got five players exactly like that. I can’t see us wanting a sixth player who is exactly the same,” Parker told the LS11 Podcast.

TBR’s View:

Raphinha and Helder Costa are the two main examples of left-footed wide players owned by Leeds that like to cut in from the right, plus there are others in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

Madueke is a versatile attacker though that can also play centrally.

His impact at PSV this season is showing he’s a supreme talent. He scored in the club’s Europa League group stage campaign, plus he’s been a creative threat as well as a goalscorer.

If Leeds are going to kick on during the next couple of years, he’s the sort of exciting youngster they should be able to attract to Yorkshire.
