Ben Parker raves about Leeds player who’s an “absolute baller”

Ben Parker has raved about the ability of Leeds United talisman Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips, who earns £35,000-a-week (Salary Sport), was at the heart of his team’s impressive 0-0 draw on Sunday in the Premier League against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old did a superb job nullifying the threat of opposition star Bruno Fernandes, who is regarded as one of the very best playmakers in the division.

England international Phillips is a defensive midfielder that has evolved as a player hugely under manager Marcelo Bielsa, and has gone from strength to strength during his first season in the Premier League.

He’s a deep-lying playmaker with all the ability to dictate possession, combined with high work rate and aggression in the defensive side of his game.

Parker has explained that he’s someone teammates, especially centre-backs, will really appreciate in the XI.

“Kalvin Phillips, wow. What a player. What a performance [against Man United]. He makes life easy for a centre-half when you’ve got an absolute baller in front of you,” Parker told the LS11 podcast.

TBR’s View:

If you look back to the Phillips from a few years, it would have been unimaginable to think further down the line he would be an England international and real driving force for the Leeds team in the Premier League.

However, there can be a strong case made to say he’s the one player the Whites rely most on.

It looks like he will be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s European Championships, and it would be deserved after the individual campaign he’s had so far.

It’s really noticeable how much they miss him when he doesn’t play, so that’s why he’s a real favourite with Leeds fans.
