Ben Parker praised Leeds United’s centre-back pairing Ben White and Liam Cooper after their performances on Tuesday night.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved to the top of the Championship table with a narrow 1-0 away win against Reading.
The Yorkshire giants made it four consecutive league victories with an 87th minute winning goal, as winger Jack Harrison popped up with a thunderous header.
It means they leapfrogged West Brom to the top of the table for now and once again their solid defence helped them earn three points.
They have conceded just 10 goals in the 18 league matches so far all season.
Ex-Leeds defender Parker was left raving about the Leeds defence after the Reading win, with centre-backs White and Cooper under his focus.
“It’s a good sign as centre-halves where you don’t really see them too much or talk about them too much. We didn’t mention Cooper too much, but the captain coming back in tonight I thought he was fantastic,” Parker told LUTV.
“Ben White we could speak about it all night about how good a player he is. That’s another clean sheet and it shows it’s a great platform to go build upon.
White has been arguably the standout defender in the entire Championship this season and his loan signing from Brighton has been a masterstroke.
He once again looked unfazed against the Reading attackers and is so comfortable in bringing the ball out from the back.
Meanwhile, Whites captain Cooper returned to the starting XI after his recent injury absence and was formidable in the defence.
He is an imposing figure that compliments teammate White so well and they have built an excellent partnership.
